Apport vulnerabilitiesRanked by how likely they are to be used.
Apport is made by Canonical. We track 16 published vulnerabilities in it, across 212 versions. None of them is on the list of flaws known to be exploited today. If you run Apport, keep it on a version the vendor still supports.
We keep watching the known-exploited list.
Which Apport vulnerabilities are being exploited?
This is the list that matters most: flaws criminals are using now.
None of Apport's published vulnerabilities is on the list of flaws known to be exploited today. We keep watching that list.
Which Apport flaws are most likely to be used?
Ranked by the latest exploit-likelihood forecast: the chance each flaw is used in an attack in the next 30 days. A high severity score on its own doesn't tell you that. Flaws shared by many other makers' products are left out.
- 0.9%CVE-2023-1326High
A privilege escalation attack was found in apport-cli 2.26.0 and earlier which is similar to CVE-2023-26604.

Race condition in Canonical apport up to and including 2.32.0 allows a local attacker to leak sensitive information via PID-reuse by leveraging namespaces.
- 0.6%CVE-2021-25684High
It was discovered that apport in data/apport did not properly open a report file to prevent hanging reads on a FIFO.
- 0.5%CVE-2020-15702High
TOCTOU Race Condition vulnerability in apport allows a local attacker to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code.
- 0.5%CVE-2021-3710Medium
An information disclosure via path traversal was discovered in apport/hookutils.py function read_file().
- 0.5%CVE-2021-3709Medium
Function check_attachment_for_errors() in file data/general-hooks/ubuntu.py could be tricked into exposing private data via a constructed crash file.

- 0.4%CVE-2021-25683High
It was discovered that the get_starttime() function in data/apport did not properly parse the /proc/pid/stat file from the kernel.
- 0.4%CVE-2020-15701Medium
An unhandled exception in check_ignored() in apport/report.py can be exploited by a local attacker to cause a denial of service.
- 0.4%CVE-2015-1341High

1 new flaw affects software Acme tracks
A privilege escalation attack was found in apport-cli 2.26.0 and earlier which is similar to CVE-2023-26604. If a system is specially configured to allow unprivileged users to run sudo apport-cli, less is configured as the pager, and the terminal size can be set: a local attacker can escalate privilege. It is extremely unlikely that a system administrator would configure sudo to allow unprivileged users to perform this class of exploit.
